Stephen Randall Thompson ( born Stephen Randall Thompson ; born February 11, 1983) is an American mixed fighter (MMA) and former professional kickboxer. At the moment, it acts under the auspices of the UFC , where it occupies the 6th line of the official rating of the UFC welterweights. He trained with former UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidmann . He was a contender for the UFC champion belt.

In 2006, Stephen Thompson won the first place in the list of fighters of the World League of Martial Arts (WCL), founded by Chuck Norris .
Professional kickboxing record: 57-0-0
Mixed Martial Arts
He received a title fight in 2016 at UFC 205 against Tyrone Woodley, in which he did not receive the champion belt and did not lose, the result of the fight is “a draw”.
There was also a victory over former UFC champ Johney Hendrix at the UFC Fight Night 82 tournament.
In 2017, he got revenge against Tyrone Woodley, in which he lost the decision of the majority of judges.
Personal life
Stephen is the eldest son of Ray Thompson, a professional fighter and owner of a karate children's school in which he works as a head instructor. Stephen's half-brother is Carlos Machado, who has been coaching his BJJ since he was 20 years old.
