Slavko Obadov ( Serb. Slavko Obadov; Slavko Obadov ; July 12, 1948 , Zemun ) - a Serbian Yugoslav sambo wrestler and judoist of the middle weight category, played for the national team of Yugoslavia in the late 1960s and early 1980s. Participant of the three summer Olympic Games, bronze medalist of the Montreal Olympics , silver medalist of the World Sambo Championship, silver medalist of the European Judo Championship, two-time champion of the Mediterranean Games, double bronze medalist of European Sambo Championships, winner and medalist of many tournaments of national importance.

Biography
Slavko Obadov was born on July 12, 1948 in the city of Zemun (now one of the districts of Belgrade ), Yugoslavia . He began to actively engage in sambo and judo from early childhood, was trained at the Slavia martial arts club in Novi Sad .
He achieved his first serious success at the age of eighteen in 1966, when he became the cadet judo champion of Yugoslavia. Two years later, he won the country's national adult championship, and also won the bronze medal at the Junior European Championships in London. In 1969, at the competitions in Berlin, he became the European Junior Champion, again won the adult championship of Yugoslavia and made his debut in the standings of the World Championship held in Mexico City, where he took seventh place.
Thanks to a series of successful appearances, Obadov was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich - as a result, he took the eleventh place in the average weight division, and was defeated by the Soviet judoka Guram Gogolauri at the quarter-finals. In addition, since that time he has successfully performed at international sambo competitions, in particular, at the first European Championship in Riga he received an average weight in bronze. In 1973, he won a silver medal at the World Sambo Championships in Tehran, losing only to the Soviet sambo player Ceslovas Jezerskas in the decisive match, and a year later he added to the track record a bronze dignity award received at the European Championship in Madrid.
In 1975, Slavko Obadov won the bronze medal at the European Judo Championships in Lyon in the team event and won the Mediterranean Games in Algeria. Being one of the leaders of the judoist team of Yugoslavia, he successfully qualified for the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games - this time he achieved greater success, suffered the only defeat at the semifinal stage from the representative of the Soviet Union Valery Dvoinikov , while he defeated all other rivals and thereby won the bronze Olympic medal.
After the Montreal Olympics, Obadov remained in the main team of the Yugoslav national team and continued to take part in major international tournaments. So, in 1979 he was the best in the middle weight category at the home Mediterranean games in Split and became the second at the European Championships in Brussels, losing in the final to the Swiss Jurg Rötlisberger . Later he went to represent the country at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , where he subsequently became only the tenth in the category of up to 86 kg. The last time he played on the international stage in the 1981 season, when he participated in the World Championship program in the Dutch Maastricht, however, in his second fight he was knocked out of the further fight for the medals by the Brazilian Walter Carmona . Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his sports career, giving way to the young Yugoslav judokas in the national team.
