Biography

He graduated from St. Petersburg University in 1903. Pupil A.S. Dogel .

From 1906 to 1942 - worked at St. Petersburg (Petrograd, Leningrad) University.

In 1906-1913 - the keeper of the anatomical and histological office of St. Petersburg University. Private Associate Professor of the Department of Zoology, Comparative Anatomy and Animal Physiology (1913-1918).

In 1934 he received a master 's degree with the work "The histological structure of the dorsal roots and white matter of the spinal cord."

Since 1914 - assistant of the anatomical and histological office. Since 1924 - Head of the Laboratory of Cytology and Private Histology. Since 1925 - Vice-rector for the academic part of the university.

He worked at the Timiryazev Institute (now IPEE RAS ) in Moscow and the Leningrad Agricultural Institute .

Scientific activity

He studied the histology of the nervous system; showed the participation of Schwann cells in the formation of the pulp of the nerve fiber and described motor nerve endings in smooth muscles .

His works on the histophysiology of mammary glands and organs of the reproductive system are also known. In some works of the scientist there are ideological and methodological errors - Freudian ideas , as well as an overestimation of the role of hormones as the "hidden springs" of the body when underestimating the importance of the nervous system, etc.

The author of a number of textbooks and workshops on histology.
