In November 2003, a fight for the vacant IBF light heavyweight title fight between Clinton Woods and Glen Johnson took place . The fight ended in a draw. [2]

In October 2004, Woods met in an eliminator with Australian Jason De Lyle . Woods was knocked down in the 1st round, and De Lyle in the 7th. In the 10th round, the Briton knocked out the opponent.
