The Governor of Indiana, Mike Pence, was appointed Vice President of the Republican Party. Elections
On November 8, 2016, in the presidential election, Trump secured the support of 306 [1] [2] [3] of 538 electors with the required minimum of 270 votes, which ensured his coming to power on January 20, 2017 [4] .
Cabinet Formation
Interim period, the beginning of the formation of the cabinet
The interim period began when Trump was elected president on November 8, 2016. During the interim period, the team of Donald Trump began to compile a list of applicants for various positions of the Cabinet and the White House apparatus . The core of the Trump administration can be formed by former New York Mayor Rudolf Giuliani , as well as former Speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich . Sources in the Trump team on The Wall Street Journal say the prosecutor general is discussing the candidacy of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie , who is now a senior adviser to Trump and Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson . Neurosurgeon Ben Carson and former Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindl are being considered Minister of Health and Human Services [5] .
On November 24, 2016, The New York Times suggested that due to a split among Republicans over the candidacy for the post of Secretary of State (supporters of Rudolf Giuliani and Mitt Romney did not come to an agreement for a long time), Trump may stop the unexpected choice of generals - John F. Kelly or David Petraeus [6] ; later, Rex Tillerson, chairman of the board of directors and CEO of ExxonMobil Corporation, was named among possible candidates for this position [7] .
As a possible candidate for the post of Minister of Finance in the future administration, JPMorgan Chase CEO James Dimon and the head of the US Housekeeping Financial Services Committee Jeb Hensarling [8] , as well as Trump's campaign finance manager and former Goldman Sachs investment bank employee Stephen, were considered Mnuchin , [9] who was November 30 and was officially nominated for this position.
On November 24, 2016, there were reports that Trump will propose Wilbur Ross to the Senate for approval as Minister of Commerce [10] .
Among the possible candidates for the post of US Secretary of Homeland Security, the press called Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clark (Trump had a personal meeting with him on November 28) [11] .
