The creator and main presenter of the Gerard film award, as well as the Gerard television award, is journalist Frederic Royer ( fr. Frédéric Royer ) ^[1] . He developed the concept of Gerard by analogy with the American Golden Raspberry .

Over the years, Frederic Royer has attracted many people to conduct, create or prepare the ceremony, such as: Stefan Rose ( Fr. Stéphane Rose ) from 2006, Arno Demanche ( Fr. Arnaud Demanche ) from 2006 to 2012, Juliette Arno ( Fr. Juliette Arnaud ) since 2013, David Cubby ( Fr. David Koubbi ) since 2007, Alexander Pesl ( Fr. Alexandre Pesle ), from 2007 to 2009 ^[2] . The Big Gérard's Band, consisting of Benjamin Fau ( French Benjamin Fau ), Manyu Sheaba ( French Manu Chehab ) and Nicolas Monard ( French Nicolas Monhardt ), in the early years was a musical group accompanying the leading on stage. Name Origin

The name "Gerard" was chosen by Frederic Royer because of its consonance with "César", and also because it is a common name in the world of French cinema, namely: Gerard Depardieu , Gerard Uri , Gerard Lanvin , Gerard Juno , Gerard Philip , Gerard Darmont , Gerard Mordillat ( Fr. In 2012, satirist Arnaud Demanche announced his departure from Gerard, explaining this by the “lack of prospects” for the event and his own lack of time ^[3] .

No more "Gerard" film awards ceremony took place.

Created in 2006, the ceremony was originally (2006 and 2007) a frank parody of the principles of ceremonies such as "Cesar" with opposite categories (worst actor, worst actress, worst film, etc.). Since 2008, all categories have acquired original names, often comical, unique, rather long and emphasized playful.

Similarly to the “Golden Raspberry” that they were inspired with, prizes awarded on the occasion of the “Gerard Film Prize” may be the subject of discussion.
