Hunting is a science the subject of study of which is hunting management .
Content
History
Hunting took shape as a science at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Having borrowed the experience of many millennia of hunting , hunting has incorporated the methods of numerous fundamental and applied sciences: zoology , botany , ethology , ecology , biogeography , economics , morphology , physiology , genetics , veterinary medicine , forestry , sociology , law .
An important role in the development of Russian hunting was played by A. A. Silantiev , N. V. Turkin, B. M. Zhitkov , A. N. Formozov and D. K. Soloviev , who wrote the five-volume “Fundamentals of Hunting,” published in the 1920s years.
Structure
The sections of hunting management include:
- biological foundations of hunting, exploring population changes and animal population management;
- classification, typology, appraisal of hunting grounds;
- hunting management engaged in the maintenance of hunting grounds for the purpose of their use for hunting;
- biotechnology
- hunting equipment and technology;
- commodity science and product evaluation;
- economics and organization of hunting;
- marketing;
- hunting legislation.
In their studies, hunters use animal observations (direct and remote using technical means), tagging and experimental capture / game, laboratory and statistical methods.
Scientific and educational organizations
Research in Russia is carried out by scientists of the Institute of Hunting and Animal Breeding and specialized units of the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences and universities .
Training in the specialty of “biologist and hunter” is carried out at the K.A. Timiryazev Moscow Agricultural Academy , the Russian State Agrarian Correspondence University (RGAZU), the Vyatka State Agricultural Academy (VyatGHA), the Irkutsk State Agrarian University (IrSAA).
Hunting societies include:
- Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (AFWA) in North America;
- International Council for the Hunting and Preservation of the Wildlife in Europe (exists since 1930).
Hunting biologists also share experiences during the International Congress of Game Biologists (IUGB).
