Striped Anchovella or Surinamese Anchovella [2] ( lat. Anchoviella lepidentostole ) is a species of ray-finned fish of the anchovy family. These pelagic fish live in the tropical and temperate waters of the southwest and central western Atlantic between 9 ° C. w. and 27 ° s w. and between 61 ° c. d. and 33 ° c. The body is spindle-shaped, covered with cycloid scales , the head is bare. The maximum length is 13.1 cm. They are found at a depth of up to 50 m. They feed on plankton . Of little interest to local fisheries [3] [4] [1] .

The striped anchwell lives in the western Atlantic Ocean, from the Delta of the Orinoco River to Ponta da Cotinga in Brazil [1] . It migrates, swims in estuaries of rivers, rises up to 100 km upstream [5] . It occurs at a depth of up to 50 m [1] .
The body is elongated, moderately high, height is 4-5 times less than the length, compressed laterally and covered with cycloid scales , head naked. The snout is short, blunt and rounded, makes up 2/3 of the diameter of the eye, which is 6.9-7.1% of the body length. The head is small. The end of the upper jaw reaches the front edge of the prelap . In the dorsal and anal fins, the first three rays are soft and unbranched. On the lower jaw there are small teeth arranged in 1 row. Gill stamens thin, few. The lateral line is absent, on the head there are developed seismic sensor channels. The fins are devoid of prickly rays. The caudal fin is notched. The mouth is large, half-low. Scales easily fall off. The mouth opening is very wide. Large eyes are located close to the end of the snout and are covered externally with a transparent skin film [4] [5] .
In the dorsal fin 11-12 rays; in the anal 19-23; in the chest 12-14, in the abdominal 6; branchial stamens on the lower part of the 1st arch (17-18) + (18-25) [5] .
The maximum length is 13.1 cm. The average length does not exceed 9 cm [3] .
