Biography
Born May 30, 1923 in the city of Moscow. From a working-class family. He graduated from high school in 1940 . In October 1940 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army and was sent to an aviation school. He graduated from the Bronnikov Military Aviation Pilot School in 1943 .
Since October 11, 1943, he took part in the Great Patriotic War as part of the 108th bomber Riga Red Banner Aviation Regiment of the 36th Bomber Smolensk Red Banner Aviation Division of the 8th Smolensk Long-Range Aviation Corps . During the war years he was a pilot and flight commander. The regiment supported the fighting of the Red Army in the central and Baltic sectors of the front. He carried out combat sorties to military facilities and enemy troops in Memel , Vilnius , Dvinsk , Minsk , Vyborg , Borisov , Rezekne , Opochka , Petseri , Ostrov , Tilsit , Gumbinnen , Danzig , Königsberg , Stettin , Pillau , Fishhauseroune , Libau , Libau Bolbasovo and others. He flew on an IL-4 bomber .
As a part of Long-Range Aviation , in 1943–1945 he performed 73 sorties for the bombing of German troops, with a combat raid of 418 hours at night and 244 hours during the day [1] .
After the Victory, he continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1954 he graduated from the Air Force Academy . He was deputy regiment commander, commander of a long-range aviation regiment. As a regiment commander, he was one of the first to master the landing of a Tu-16 heavy bomber at an ice airfield in the Arctic Ocean [2] .
Since 1961, he commanded the 79th Heavy Bomber Aviation Division ( Chagan airfield in the Semipalatinsk region of the Kazakh SSR ). In 1966 he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff . Since 1968 - commander of the 8th separate bomber aviation corps ( Irkutsk ).
In 1975, an emergency occurred at the Belaya airport - due to the collision of two aircraft at the parking lots and detonation of ammunition, 6 aircraft were burned. General Agurin was removed from office. In the same 1975, he was appointed deputy chief, and in 1978 - the chief of the V.P. Chkalova .
Under his leadership, state tests of the Tu-160 strategic bomber were carried out. Technical director of testing the Relief rocket complex based on the Granat rocket. Ensured the implementation of a significantly increased volume of test work (complexes A-50, T-10 (Su-27), 9-12 (MiG-29), "Relief" and others, weapon systems X-59M, X-58, X-31 , products “115” (X-15), publishing house “117”, publishing house “125” (X-55CM), “254”, “255”, “170” (P-77), “470” (P -27), "520" and others). He carried out a structural reorganization of the institute for more effective testing. In 1982, L.I. Agurin was awarded the military rank of Colonel General of Aviation .
Since 1987 - retired. He lived in Moscow. He died on March 17, 1993.
