Biography
In 1840 he joined the Neapolitan army, which he left in 1848 , when he took a notable part in the defense of Venice against the Austrians.
From January 21, 1849 - Professor of Artillery at the Polytechnic School of Venice.
In 1859, he joined the Garibaldi corps, distinguished himself at Milazzo , and during the dictatorship of Garibaldi in Naples was Minister of War ( 1860 ).
From March 16, 1859 - commander of the 1st regiment of Alpine shooters.
In 1861 he entered the service in the Italian army.
From April 22, 1861 - Inspector General of the National Guard of the Neapolitan Province.
From March 23 to August 17, 1862 - Prefect of Bari .
From September 27, 1862 - adjutant of His Majesty the King.
From April 22 to May 10, 1866 - Judge of the Supreme Military Tribunal.
From August 3, 1882 to November 3, 1893 - Chief of General Staff.
Repeatedly elected to the Chamber of Deputies , where he joined the right; since 1872 became a senator .
From February 24, 1878 - honorary adjutant of His Majesty the King.
From March 5, 1882 - Honorary Adjutant General of His Majesty the King.
