Intelligence
The group was abandoned behind enemy lines on September 20, 1943 . [2] For almost six months, the group, through acquired agents and other sources in the rear of the enemy, received and submitted information to the NKGB of the Ukrainian SSR about the activities of the OUN underground and the Ukrainian rebel army .
The staff of the group had in touch more than 150 agents, of which residencies were created in the cities of Yelsk , Ovruch and Mozyr . 12 agents have been introduced into the OUN underground and UPA units. About 300 participants in the nationalist underground and persons who collaborated with the occupiers were identified.
The task force obtained the necessary intelligence for partisan formations, ensuring the development of plans for combat operations against enemy garrisons and advancement along raid routes. She identified and neutralized 8 agents of German intelligence and 23 traitors. The participants of the established residencies in the cities of Yelsk , Belokorovichi , Slovechno and Olevsk carried out a number of acts of sabotage, which caused serious damage to the enemy.
The group obtained documents from the headquarters of the 13th German railway battalion and a number of secret orders from the German command, as well as information about the enemy’s line of defense on the Western Bug River .
In early November 1943, the group received information about the strengthening of enemy strongholds in the area of Mozyr - Korosten - Zhytomyr , the construction of a defense line along the Kiev - Zhytomyr highway and the concentration of artillery units on this site. Information was received on the Germans sending 46 doctors and paramedics, equipped with poisonous substances, to carry out terrorist attacks in partisan formations, about which all partisan fences were informed, and the fight against the penetration of enemy agents to the partisans was intensified.
Having completed the task, the “For Homeland” group left the enemy rear in February 1944 and arrived in Kiev . For fulfilling a special mission behind enemy lines by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 14, 1944, the group leader V. I. Khrapko was awarded the Order of the Red Banner [3] [4] .
