Sports Achievements
During the 1976 European Championship in Oslo, Stenchemmeta companion Sten Stensen set the world record at the final 10,000 meters, but Stensemmet became the European champion, who was 0.005 points ahead of Stensen, which is 0.1 seconds at 10,000 meters.
March 19, 1977 at the Medeo mountain skating rink, Sergey Marchuk became the first skater to run out of 7 minutes at a distance of 5000 meters - 6.58.88. Kai Stensemmet, who was running in the next pair, stopped the stopwatch at 6.56.9. This world record was broken only in five years by Alexander Baranov .
Stensemmet was the champion of Norway in the all-around in 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1981, as well as the champion of the country in the all-around sprint in 1976.
At the 1980 Olympics, he was second twice in 1500 and 5000 meters after Eric Haden .
