The men's 5000 meters final was held on July 10, 2016. Only 20 runners were declared for participation in this discipline, in connection with which the preliminary races were canceled. The run took place in a tactical manner, as a result, the fate of the medals was decided at the finish. Five runners claimed at once, who showed some of the most solid results in history. Visually, immediately 4 runners crossed the finish line at the same time, and only the photo finish gave preference to the season leader Ilias Fife from Spain.
