The women 's 4 x 400 meter relay competitions at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro took place on August 19 and 20, 2016 at the Olympic Stadium .
In the rank of Olympic champions in 2012, representatives of the United States took to the start. At the same time, at both world championships that have passed since the London victory, the Americans lost. In 2013, Russians won gold (missed the Rio Games due to the disqualification of the national federation), and the first in 2015 were the representatives of Jamaica.
The Americans indicated their claim to victory and the desire to end the unsuccessful series back in the preliminary races, having reached the final with the first time and the best in history for this stage of the competition. In the final, they left no chance to competitors, beating opponents from Jamaica by more than 1 second. This Olympic title became for the USA the 6th consecutive in the women's relay 4x400 meters and the 7th in general.
Allison Felix became a six-time Olympic champion (in total, she has 9 awards of various denominations).
