Biography
September 25, 1939 drafted into the Red Army . Since September 1941 - in the battles of the Great Patriotic War (Leningrad, North Caucasus fronts) as a platoon commander, deputy battery commander of the 849th artillery regiment ( 294th rifle division ), battery commander of the 966th artillery regiment ( 383rd infantry division ); was wounded in March and September 1942 [1] . In June 1945, he served as the captain of the 4th part of the Bauska district military registration and enlistment office of the Latvian SSR [1] .
In 1952 he was a Komsomol member of the Komsomol Central Committee of the Soviet delegation at the first Olympic Games for Soviet athletes [2] .
Since March 1957, he was the first editor- in -chief of the journal “ Sports Life in Russia ” [3] .
From July 1, 1959 to May 26, 1960 - Chairman of the Presidium of the USSR Hockey Federation [3] [4] . From July 1, 1959 to May 24, 1963, he was a member of the Presidium of the USSR Hockey Federation.
Subsequently, he worked as first deputy editor-in-chief of the weekly weekly newspaper [2] .
He was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery [3] .
