Biography
Came from hereditary noblemen of the Petersburg province. Received secondary education in the Polotsk military gymnasium . In August 1874 he entered the 1st Military Pavlovsk School , from which on August 10, 1876 he was released as second lieutenant with enrollment in the army infantry and seconded to the Life Guards Volyn Regiment .
In 1877 he was transferred, with renaming to ensign, in the Life Guards Volyn Regiment , with which he took part in the Russian-Turkish war . As part of the Plevnensky detachment, he participated in the siege of Plevna , as part of the Western detachment, Adjutant General Gurko participated in the passage through the Balkans, the battles at Tashkisen , at Mechka, near Filippopol , in a march to Adrianapol. For distinctions βin dealing with the enemyβ he was awarded three military orders.
In 1884 he was promoted to headquarters captain, in 1890 - to captains. For 10 years and 3 months he commanded a company. On January 18, 1895 he was assigned to the Life Guards of the St. Petersburg Regiment , in which on July 22 of the same year he took command of the 4th battalion. December 6, 1895 promoted to colonel with the transfer to the Life Guards St. Petersburg Regiment.
September 9, 1900 was appointed commander of the 58th Infantry Regiment of Prague . On June 1, 1904, he was promoted to major general and appointed commander of the 1st Brigade of the 61st Infantry Division , at the head of which he took part in the Russo-Japanese War as part of the 5th Siberian Army Corps . For military distinctions against the Japanese, he was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav 1st degree with swords and gold weapons with the inscription "for courage."
March 14, 1906 he was appointed commander of the 1st brigade of the 40th Infantry Division . In 1907-1908, he temporarily corrected the post of commander of the 40th Infantry Division and the head of the garrison of the city of Bobruisk . December 17, 1908 was appointed head of the 58th Infantry Reserve Brigade. July 6, 1910 was appointed commander of the 49th Infantry Division . On October 17, 1910, he was promoted to lieutenant general with the approval of the division head. At the same time, he served as the head of the garrison of the city of Perm .
With the outbreak of World War I , he headed the division and took part in the Battle of Galicia , a campaign in Hungary, and the Battle of Gorlitsky .
By Order of the 8th Army No. 251 of December 24, 1914, approved by the Highest Order of January 13, 1915, he was awarded the Order of St. George of the 4th degree:
| for the fact that in the battle on August 29, 1914, attacked by the superior forces of the enemy, with his detachment repulsed all his attacks, after which he himself went on the offensive, thereby achieving corps flank support. |
On June 29, 1915, he was shell-shocked at the Radwan farm and evacuated to the rear for treatment. On July 5, 1915, he was appointed head of the 109th Infantry Division, but due to shell-shock, on November 4, 1915 he was placed in the reserve of ranks at the headquarters of the Petrograd Military District . On April 2, 1917, he was dismissed by age qualification with a uniform and pension. For military distinctions, he was awarded swords to the Order of St. Vladimir of the 2nd degree and the Order of the White Eagle with swords.
He lived in Perm. During the civil war in August 1918 he joined the Siberian Army . He was on secondment to the head of the Perm garrison, carrying out orders from the command of the 1st Central Siberian Army Corps . On January 15, 1919, in the Russian army, Kolchak was appointed chairman of the control medical commission to re-examine officers who were found unfit for service due to health reasons.

He was married to Elizabeth Nikolaevna, the daughter of Major General Nikolai Mikhailovich Esmont.
