Born in Kharkov in a working class family. While working as a locksmith, he studied at the evening institute of railway transport engineers and at the music studio at the House of Culture of Railway Workers. Since 1933 - soloist of the studio at the Kharkov Opera and Ballet Theater . Since 1935 - soloist of the Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater .
Member of the CPSU since 1946.
Main parties: Bogun (Bogdan Khmelnitsky Dankevich), Peter, Andrey (Natalka Poltavka, Taras Bulba Lysenko), Gvidon (The Tale of Tsar Saltan by Rimsky-Korsakov), Faust (Faust Gounod), Enik ("Sold bride" Sour cream), Pierre ("War and Peace" by Prokofiev) and others.
