Biography

Born in the teacher’s family on October 27, 1899 in Nikolsk . He graduated from the Nikolskoye Real School (1917).

Until April 1918 he studied at the Yekaterinoslav Mining Institute , then completed his education at the Leningrad Mining Institute (1925), defending a diploma of a mining geological engineer.

In 1925-1932 he worked in the trusts Uralzoloto and Uralplatina.

In 1932-1950 and 1958-1984 - at the Sverdlovsk Mining Institute : head of the department of prospecting and exploration of mineral deposits, since 1978 as a professor.

In 1950-1958 - at the Ural State University : 1950-1951 - Dean of the Faculty of Geology, 1952-1957 - Vice-rector for scientific work, 1955-1958 - Head of the Department of prospecting and exploration of mineral deposits.

Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences (1954), Professor (1951).

Died April 3, 1984. He was buried in the Forest cemetery of Yekaterinburg.

Scientific activity

Specialist in the field of geology and methods of prospecting and exploration of ore deposits. The main works are devoted to the study of the geology of gold deposits and the development of methods for testing ore deposits. He made a significant contribution to the implementation of mathematical methods of testing results [1] .

Prepared 20 candidates and one doctor of sciences. The author of more than 100 publications, including 15 monographs, two of which are translated into Polish, Bulgarian, Romanian and Chinese.

Organizational Activities

Expert of the State Commission for Mineral Reserves in the evaluation of deposits of noble, rare and non-ferrous metals of the Urals, Kazakhstan and Siberia; member of the commission of the Council for mutual economic assistance in non-ferrous metallurgy (Romania, 1961); participant in the XVII session of the International Geological Congress (1937); member of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Ministry of Higher Education of the USSR , Head Council on Geology and Intelligence of the Ministry of Higher Education of the RSFSR [2] .

Teaching activities

The author of a number of textbooks and teaching aids that have withstood repeated reprints.

Memory

Mineral Albovit Ca 2 [SiO4]? CaCl2 was found in 1993 and named after Professor M.N. Albov. This is not only a new mineral, but also an unusual type of chemical compounds - high chloride chloride-milicate [3] .
