History

On October 1, 1914, the two- company Separate Battalion of the 2nd Baltic Fleet Crew , consisting of 607 lower ranks and 16 officers and class ranks under the command of Captain 1st Rank G.N. Mazurov, arrived in Ivangorod Fortress . The battalion was formed by the Highest Command in Petrograd from the ranks of the Marine Guard and was sent to Ivangorod by order of the Naval Ministry . The highest command of the battalion was given two boats of the Marine Guard.

At the beginning of December 1914 a detachment of 611 foot gunners joined the battalion sent to Ivangorod to service the serf guns. In order to give greater organization and strengthening unity of command in the same month, at the initiative of the fortress commandant General Schwartz, a separate battalion of the 2nd Baltic Fleet Crew was deployed to the two-battalion Special Forces Marine Regiment, for which several non-commissioned officers were promoted to officers. The captain of the 1st rank (from January 19, 1915 major general ) Mazurov was appointed commander of the regiment. In July 1915, a regiment train was attached to the regiment [1]

By order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armies of the Western Front dated May 31, 1916 No. 788, the Marine Special Purpose Regiment was deployed to the Separate Marine Special Purpose Brigade consisting of:

  • Management brigade;
  • artillery regiment;
  • mine regiment;
  • river flotilla;
  • mechanical workshop.

On June 3, Major General Mazurov was appointed to temporarily command the brigade . The headquarters of the brigade is located in Orsha , in the estate of Babinichi. The following staff was identified by the brigade:

  • Officers and class ranks - 158
  • Lower ranks - 8,654
  • Horses - 2 923
  • Guns and machine guns (not counting those installed on the ships of the flotilla ) - 254
  • Boats - 96
  • Wagon - 698
  • Steam locomotives - 2
  • Fenders - 15

Notes

  1. ↑ The train was formed in November 1914 by order of the head of the 6th Siberian Infantry Division to cover the Warsaw - Skarniewice railway . After re-equipment in Ivangorod, the armament of the train was two 37-mm guns and 8 Maxim machine guns. The train team consisted of 80 shooters [1] .
