Judging by his poems, one can certainly say that he was a teacher in a rural school.
He is one of the active Ukrainian poets of the second half of the 17th century. His poems, an excerpt from the drama and interlude in the manner of language and the integrity of the way of expressing his thoughts and expressing them in poetic form, give reason to argue that he was the talented forerunner of I. Kotlyarevsky .
One of the masters of the so-called beggarly verse . His poetry is a peculiar combination of the tragic and the comic ; it really reflects a purely Baroque admiration for the impermanence and variability of the world around him. The language of the works of Popovich-Guchensky is close to the folk.
