Vladimir Stepanovich Ponomarenko (born May 7, 1948 , the village of Krolevets, Sumy Region ) is a Soviet and Ukrainian scientist- economist , doctor of economic sciences , professor. Rector of the Kharkov National Economic University , head of the department of information systems [1] . Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine , Excellence in Education of Ukraine . Cavalier of the Order of Merit, III degree. Biography
Born May 7, 1948 in the city of Krolevets, Sumy region in a family of employees.
In 1966 [2] he entered the Kharkov Engineering and Economics Institute at the Faculty of Mechanized Processing of Economic Information, which he graduated in 1972 .
After serving in the Soviet Army, he worked as an engineer at the Tyazhpromavtomatika Research Institute of the Ministry of Special Construction of the Ukrainian SSR [2] .
Since 1973 he has been working at a university, in particular, studying at graduate school ( 1973 - 1976 ), holding the posts of assistant ( 1976 - 1979 ), senior lecturer ( 1979 - 1981 ), associate professor ( 1981 - 1986 ), head of the department ( 1986 - 1993 ), professor (since 1994 ), vice-rector for scientific work ( 1993 - 1998 ), first vice-rector ( 1998 - 2000 ) [2] .
In 1979 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of economic sciences on the topic "Operational management of conveyor assembly of products."
In 1982 - 1985 he completed an internship in France . He taught French disciplines of the economic cycle at the University of Brazzaville ( Congo ).
In 1999 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences on the topic "Strategic Enterprise Management" [3] .
In July [2] 2000 he was elected rector of the Kharkov State Economic University (since 2004 - national).
March 31, 2010 introduced [4] to the [5] Kharkiv Regional Committee for Economic Reforms.
Personal Information
He heads the section “Theoretical Foundations and Practical Recommendations on the Problems of Economic Development of the Region” of the Northeast Scientific Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the scientific school “Development of a Strategic Management System for an Industrial Enterprise” KNEU [6] .
He heads the specialized scientific council for the defense of doctoral dissertations, in which 10 doctoral and 163 master's theses are defended [2] . In his specialized scientific council of KhNEU [1], under his leadership, 16 candidate and 4 doctoral dissertations were defended [2] .
He has published over 120 scientific and educational works, 17 of them are monographs and study guides. He prepared 10 candidates of sciences.

- In 2003, she was awarded the honorary title “Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine” for great achievements in scientific and pedagogical activity.

- In 2005 he was awarded the honorary distinction of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration "Slobozhanska Slava".
- In 2005 he was awarded the medal "For the Development of Education".
- In 2007 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the III degree for a significant personal contribution to the socio-economic and cultural development of the Ukrainian state.
- In 2008 he was awarded the badge of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine "For Scientific Achievements".
- In 2008, he was awarded with the badge of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine "K. Ushinsky."
- In 2011, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the II degree for his significant personal contribution to the socio-economic and cultural development of the Ukrainian state.
- On June 22, 2012, at a session of the Kharkiv City Council, a decision was made to confer the title “Honorary Citizen of the City of Kharkov”
