Kaoru Kurimoto

Kaoru Kurimoto ( Japanese 栗 本 薫 Kurimoto Kaoru , real name Sumiyo Imaoka ; February 13, 1953, Tokyo - May 26, 2009, Tokyo) is a Japanese writer in the genre of science fiction, a literary critic.

Biography

Born in 1953 in Tokyo, Japan. She received a literary education at Waseda University , which she graduated in 1975. The first literary prize (named after Edogawa Rampo) was received in 1979 for the novel " Our Era ." At the time of presentation, she was the youngest author in the history of the award. During her writing career, she has written over 400 books in various literary genres ( science fiction , horror , fantasy and historical novel ).

The most popular fantasy book series was The Guinea Saga , which the writer began in 1978 and continued to write and publish until 2009 (until her death). The series has 126 core books and 21 branch books of the main story. The total circulation of books of the series is more than 30 million copies.

She died of cancer in 2009 [5] .

She was posthumously awarded the Japanese Science Fiction Award, Nihon SF Taisho Award [6] .
