Biography
Until 1942, R. R. Gelgardt worked as a senior research fellow at the Leningrad Institute of Language and Writing of the USSR Academy of Sciences . In 1942, as a Russian German, he was evicted to Kazakhstan, and only a few years later he was allowed to settle in Perm . Gelgardt sought to return to Moscow, but he was allowed to move only to Kalinin (now Tver). His friendship with V.V. Vinogradov , who was bothering for him, helped in this.
In Kalinin, R. R. Gelgardt worked at Kalinin State University , first as an assistant professor of the Russian language department, then as a professor in the department of general linguistics.
Activities
R. R. Gelgardt owns about 100 scientific papers on the study of linguistics, literary criticism, and folklore. It was published since 1928. On its initiative, since 1968, the Linguistic Circle (the first name is the Kalinin Linguistic Society) worked at the Kalinin University, in which many famous philologists were noted.
The work “The Style of Bazhov's Tales” (1958) is one of the first experiments in the comprehensive study of monuments of fiction in the field of literary studies, folklore, and linguistics.
