John Lennox ( born John Lennox ; born November 7, 1943 ) is a mathematician , doctor of sciences and doctor of philosophy, master of bioethics. He graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in pure mathematics. Professor at Oxford University . He is currently researching and teaching the relationship between environmental science, philosophy, and theology at Oxford University as a member of the board of Green College of Postgraduate Studies. The author of more than 70 scientific publications and articles, as well as the author of books on philosophy and ethics [1] .

Early life
John Lennox was born in Northern Ireland in 1943 and raised in Armagh , where his father owned a store. There, he studied at the Royal School [1] .
Career
After receiving his doctorate, Lennox moved to Cardiff , becoming a professor in mathematics at the University of Wales . Over 29 years of work in Cardiff, he lectured at universities in Würzburg , Freiburg and Vienna , and performed in Eastern and Western Europe, Russia and North America. The field of study is mathematics, apologetics, and an explanation of Scripture [1] .
Lennox also studies and teaches the relationship of science and religion at the University of Oxford. He is the author and co-author of a number of books on the relationship between science, religion and ethics, such as: “Man and his worldview” in three volumes, co-authored with D. Gooding (2004), “God and Stephen Hawking: Whose Design Anyway? "(2011). He spoke in different countries and at various conferences as a researcher, made numerous trips to the former Soviet Union. John explains numerous questions regarding worldview and Christian apologetics , such as the question of the existence of God , the problem of suffering and evil, etc. [1]
Debate
Lennox took part in numerous public debates defending the Christian faith. Discussed with atheists such as Christopher Hitchens , Michael Shermer , Richard Dawkins , Lawrence Krauss , Peter Singer .
- On October 3, 2007, Lennox took part in a debate with Richard Dawkins at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The main topic of the debate was thinking about the ideas expressed by Dawkins in his book God as an Illusion . Debate has been broadcast to millions of people around the world.
- The next meeting between Professor Lennox and Dawkins took place in April 2008 at Trinity College, Oxford . Scientists have tried to uncover other aspects that have not been addressed in previous debates.
- On August 9, 2008, at the International Festival in Edinburgh , Scotland, Lennox discussed with Christopher Hitchens whether Europe should really sacrifice its religious past and welcome New Atheism .
- On August 23, 2008, Lennox met with Michael Shermer at the Wesley Convention Center in Sydney, Australia, scientists have explored the existence of God.
- On October 21, 2008, Lennox again took part in a debate with Richard Dawkins at the University of Oxford, at the Museum of Natural History. The discussion was entitled “Has the science of God buried?”
- On March 3, 2009, John discussed for the second time with Christopher Hitchens at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, on the question of God's greatness. During the discussion, the statements of Hitchens, described in his book “ God is not love, ” were discussed.
- On July 20, 2011, Lennox spoke with Peter Singer in Melbourne, Australia, on the topic “Does God Exist?” [1] .
Personal life
Lennox speaks English, Russian, French, German and Spanish. He is married to Sally and has three children and five grandchildren. He has a brother named Gilbert Lennox, a senior minister in the church. [1]
