History
The farm belonged to the yurt of the village of Ilovlinskaya of the Second Don Region of the Don Army Region (until 1870 - the Land of the Don Army). It was originally known as a farm Zheltukhin. In the List of Populated Places of the Earth of the Don Army of the 1862 edition, compiled according to the data of 1859 , in the yurt of the village of Ilovlinskaya there are two Zheltukhin farms, however, it is not possible to unambiguously establish the correspondence of one of them to the farm [2] . According to the List of Populated Areas of the Region, the Don Army according to the 1873 census, 83 men and 88 women lived on the Zheltukhin farm (by the Shiriai river) [3] . Gradually, the name of the farm changes to Shiriai (along the river). In 1921, as part of the Second Don Don District, the farm was included in the Tsaritsyn province [6] . Since 1928 - as part of the Ilovlinsky district of the Stalingrad district (the district was liquidated in 1930) of the Lower Volga region (since 1934 - the Stalingrad region ). Since 1935 - as part of the Solodchinsky district [7] of the Stalingrad Territory (since 1936 - the Stalingrad Region, since 1961 - the Volgograd Region).
During the Great Patriotic War, the population of the farm was involved in the construction of bypass structures, military fortifications: ramparts, trenches, bunkers. The farm was of particular importance as a place for the reception, placement and treatment of wounded Soviet soldiers. Many wounded soldiers died on the way to the hospital or in hospitals. They were buried in a civilian cemetery. At the end of hostilities, in March 1943, it was decided to bury all the soldiers who died from serious wounds in a mass grave [8] .
In 1963, the Solodchinsky district was abolished, the farm was transferred to the Frolovsky District [9] . In 1965 it was included in the Ilovlinsky district [10] [11] .
