History

The band was founded in 2007 by guitarist Yani Stefanovich ( Miseration ) and vocalist Christian Elvestam (ex- Scar Symmetry , Miseration ) [2] , but the group began to realize their ideas only in 2008, when Christian Elvestam finally left Scar Symmetry and completely concentrated on a new project. Seeing the potential in music, Christian and Jani are recruiting a complete team that includes drummer Rolf Pilve ( Stratovarius ), guitarist Tom Gardiner (Hateform) and bass player Anders Edlund (Angel Blake). A little later, another guitarist joins the band - Patrick Gardberg (Ammotrack). In 2009, the band released its first single , entitled “Clandestinity Now,” and in the fall of that year the band began recording their debut album.

For Aeons Past

Two studios at once - Germany's AFM Records and Japan's Marquee / Avalon Inc, after listening to several demos of the group, sign a contract with her [3] . The producer is Thomas Ples Johansson, who had previously worked with Christian when he was a vocalist at Scar Symmetry , and they invited Mikael Stanne from Dark Tranquillity to write lyrics [4] . The recording took place at the Panic Room studio and was completed in December 2009 [5] . On April 9, 2010 in Europe , and on May 11 in North America , an album of the group called “For Aeons Past” was released, which was very warmly received by critics and listeners [2] . Keyboard guest Mikko Harkin (ex- Sonata Arctica ) also took part in the recording. Immediately after the release of the album, the team makes two videos - for the song “Gravitational Lensing” (August 25, 2010) and “Lethean Tears” (July 30, 2010). At the end of 2011, the group was invited to the ProgPower USA festival in Atlanta, Georgia, which was held in September 2012 and people from different countries, including Japan, came to this festival [2] . In the same year, bassist Anders Edlund left the band.

Nightmares in the Waking State

Work on the second album began in 2013, and then it was decided that it would be darker and more aggressive than For Aeons Past. In the course of writing the material, negotiations were held with AFM Records, and when the contract was nevertheless concluded, the team found that they had much more demos than they needed for one album, which led to the decision to create a double album [2] . In September 2014, the recording of songs begins, but the unexpected happens - the guitarist Tom Gardiner leaves the band. Almost at the same time, members of the group experience several personal dramas - the deaths of friends and relatives, which stops the recording process for an indefinite period [2] . In June 2015, the group finally got together again and, under the direction of the same Thomas “Ples” Johansson, recorded the first part of their new album “Nightmares in the Waking State” at the Panic Room studio. As promised, the album turned out darker and heavier than its predecessor, but did not diminish its melody at all [2] . In August 2016, the second part of this album was presented, which acquired a more progressive sound compared to all previous works of the collective.
