Koval, Alla Petrovna

Alla Petrovna Koval ( March 9, 1923 , the village of Belozerye , now Cherkasy region , Cherkasy region - May 16, 2009 , Kiev ) - Soviet linguist , doctor of philological sciences (1972), professor (1973). The author of many scientific and popular science works on the history of the Ukrainian language , stylistics , speech culture and the like.

Biographical information

Graduated from Kiev University (1945).

She worked as a teacher in the villages of Mikulintsy of the Terebovlyansky District (1949) and Kozlov of the Kozovsky District (1950-1951).

Since 1951 - at the University of Kiev: teacher of the Faculty of Philology, 1972-1989 - head of the department of stylistics of the faculty of journalism.

She was buried in Kiev at the City Cemetery (Berkovtsy), plot 91.

In 1964, the book "1000 winged expressions of the Ukrainian literary language: aphorisms, literary quotes, figurative expressions" was published. Compiled by Alla Petrovna Koval, Viktor Viktorovich Koptilov.

Memory

In December 2010, at the Institute of Journalism of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv , a Round Table was held in memory of A.P. Koval with the participation of her students, in particular Boris Oleynik , Vadim Kryshchenko, many famous journalists, philologists, and writers. The event was attended by the daughter of A.P. Koval - associate professor Oksana Koval.

March 25, 2011 at the Institute of Journalism of KNU the international scientific-practical conference “Language. Society. Journalism ”, dedicated to the memory of Professor Alla Koval [1] .
