Story
The film takes place in the XVIII century . Empress Elizaveta Petrovna sends her godson Andrei to the Carpathians to return to St. Petersburg the exiled (in fact, the territory of Russia would reach the Carpathians only in 1944) monk Lavra Spassky Monastery. When meeting with Andrei, Laurus refuses to return to the capital. Later, Andrei realizes that ghouls live in the mountain forests, the haven of which is the castle of Vitold, the main vampire , whose ultimate goal is the enslavement of mankind. And Andrew meets true love, for the sake of which he comes to grips with supernatural evil, and in the end defeats him.

Creation
The script of the film was written in the spring of 2008, but due to another crisis, filming was postponed for a long time, until the company "CITY" did not buy the rights and resuscitate the project. About the preparatory period, producer Ekaterina Gorodetskaya told the following:
The preparatory period began in May 2014. Then we worked closely with the script and at the same time developed the overall style of the film, created references to the characters of the film - what the main characters of the picture should look like, villagers, what will be the forces of evil, etc. Five months before the start of shooting, a costume designer, an artist- director, assistant director of props, and references have been finalized, turning into the final sketches of costumes, sets, props.
The shooting was carried out in the Crimea , on the territory of the historical complex Chufut-Kale [5] .
