National composition

- Bahraini
Bahraini - the main population of the Kingdom of Bahrain, belonging to the Arab peoples. They make up about 55% of the country's population. - Arabs
In addition to the Bahraini, other Arabs also live in the country. These are mainly refugees from Palestine and Iraq , whom Bahrain has hosted. In addition, Bahrain is home to descendants of immigrants from East Africa, as well as Arabs-khol resettled from Persia. For all of them, the main religion is the Sunni direction of Islam . Together with the Bahraini, Arabs make up about 65% of the total population of the kingdom.
- Persians
Persians - are the second most populous people of the kingdom, after the Arabs. In Bahrain, the main sub-ethnic group of Persians - Ajam - lives mainly. Persian migrations to Bahrain date back to the times of the Persian dynasties of the Achaemenids and Sassanids , when the island was part of Persia. Today, about 180 thousand Persians live in the kingdom, which makes up about 13% of the country's population. Believers are Shia Muslims . Relations between Arabs and Ajamians in the region have remained tense for a long time. In addition to differences in religious movements, it is also associated with the culture of wine cultivation, preserved by the Ajamians from pre-Islamic times, which is strictly prohibited by Islam [3] .
- Pakistanis
There are more immigrants from Pakistan in the kingdom every year. These are mainly visiting workers who do not officially have citizenship in the country. Among the visiting Pakistanis, the Urdu language is mainly spoken. Faithful Sunni Muslims .
- Indians
Like Pakistan, there are many people from India in the kingdom. These are mainly peoples - Malayalas , Tamils , Gujaratis and Telugu . The total number of immigrants from India in the country is estimated at 150 thousand people. The main religion for immigrants from India are Hinduism and Sunni Islam.
- Kurds
Most Kurds in Bahrain appeared after the invasion of the international coalition on Iraq in 2003 . Believers are Sunni Muslims.
