1st mechanized brigade ( Slovak 1. (Prvá) mechanizovaná brigáda ) - the main motorized unit of the Slovak army that is part of the Ground Forces of Slovakia . The team is under the direct command of the Slovak Armed Forces . The brigade is deployed in the Topolchany .

Team Tasks
The tasks of the brigade are: [2]
- in the event of a military threat to the Slovak Republic , the deployment of forces and resources for the defense and protection of sovereignty;
- conducting operations without restrictions;
- autonomous actions as an independent brigade group;
- implementation of the transfer rapidly and the implementation of unexpected tasks;
- perform assigned tasks to assist civilians, authorities, organizations in emergency situations in which life and health of people or their property are endangered in the context of liquidation or consequences of natural disasters;
- the provision of forces and facilities for peacekeeping operations
- deployment of a certain part of the force and means in accordance with the decision of the competent authorities of the Slovak Republic in the special operations regime, in relation to international organizations.
Team Structure
The team includes the following units:
- 11th mechanized battalion (deployed in Martin );
- 12th mechanized battalion (deployed in Nitra );
- 13th mechanized battalion (deployed in Levice );
- Logistic support battalion (deployed in the Topolchany ).

- 2008 - July 21, 2011 the commander was Brigadier General Ivan Girka [3]
- July 21, 2011 - June 1, 2012 Colonel Zoltan Iboš was the commander [4]
- June 1, 2012 - April 30, 2015 Colonel Jan Boignac was the commander [5]
- May 1, 2015 - today the commander is Colonel of the General Staff Vladimir Kuban [6]
