Battle Path History

1991

The battle path of the brigade began at the end of September 1991 , on the Slavic front, along with other units of the Banja Luka Corps (later the 1st Krainsky Corps). The task of the brigade was to reach the Belgrade - Zagreb highway, in the Okucani region, to ensure safety on the Gradiska -Okucani highway section and the highway section to Pakrac . The operation was successfully carried out in conjunction with the 16th Krajina brigade arrived from Banja Luka . In early 1992, the team returned to Priedor.

1992

On May 30, 1992, a Croatian-Bosnian detachment under the command of Slavko Jecimovic, consisting of Bosnian Green Berets , armed men of the Croatian Democratic Community and the Bosnian Democratic Party , attacked Priedor at dawn, crossing the Sanaa River in several places. 43rd Pryedorskaya repelled the attack of the attackers on Partizanskaya Street, and by the end of the day a significant part of the detachment was killed in the Old Town, on Pukharskaya and Zanatskaya Streets. In this battle, 36 brigade soldiers died, including the commander of the battalion of armored vehicles Major Zoran Karlitsa (now his name is the central square of Priedor).

In the summer of 1992, the 43rd Priedorsky Motorized Brigade participated in Operation Corridor , the battles for Gradacac-Jakesh, Vukosavle, Derventu and Šamac. On the morning of June 24, after artillery preparation, the tank units of the brigade crushed the Bosnian defense lines in the direction of Lokve - Gradacz Industrial District, and the brigade advanced several hundred meters from the center of Gradacz. The command of the 2nd Corps of ARBiH in Tuzla, having decided that an attack was being prepared on Gracanica and the Tuzlan Basin, withdrew part of its forces to Gradacac, actually lifting the siege from Doboy. In fact, this was the purpose of the attack on Gradacac, to force the Bosnians to retire and facilitate the defeat of the Croatian brigades north of Doboia. This maneuver also allowed the 1st Armored and 16th Krainsky motorized brigades to pass along the right bank of the Bosna River to Modrica, which they managed to free four days later.

The armored train, which allowed the ARBiH defense lines near Gradachatz to go through the defense lines in the fall of 1992, was assembled by engineers of the 43rd brigade and was very similar to the Kryna Express armored train.

1993 and 1994

In 1993-1994, the brigade held the defense on the Vlasic - Tin - Orashye line , around Sarajev and Khan-Pesak . Participated in operations "Gardening", "Birch" and "Shield".

1995

In 1995, the brigade returned to Priedor , and successfully defended its hometown in the last battle as part of Operation Vagan, before the onslaught of the 5th Muslim Corps from Sanski Most , where the Muslim corps stopped in the Alisici Gorge in the direction of the Old Rivers defense line - Lubia . The brigade together with the 5th Kozarskaya defended the passage.

Team Organization

At the beginning of the war, the team was divided into the following units:

  • Armored Battalion
  • Iron battalion
  • Tank battalion
  • Assault battalion

Later, the composition of the brigade expanded. It included compounds such as:

  • Tank company "El Magnacos";
  • Assault battalion;
  • Company of the military police;
  • Artillery division;
  • Engineering unit;
  • Mortar units;
  • Support units;
  • Reconnaissance and sabotage detachment "Quick".
