Description

The length of the tan is 1.5 mm. Antennae 6-segmented. Antenna scapus very short, dorso-ventrally flattened and wide. Mandibles narrow, elongated, without preapical denticles. The orbicular hairs of the clypeus are smaller in the middle than along the edges. Predatory species, preys on small species of soil arthropods . The species was first described in 2000 by the British worldmecologist B. Bolton based on materials from China under the original name Pyramica lachesis Bolton, 2000 [1] . Since 2007, as part of the genus Strumigenys (Baroni Urbani & De Andrade, 2007) [3] [4] . The species is included in the Strumigenys argiola-complex from the species group Strumigenys argiola group together with the European Strumigenys argiola and with several East Palearctic and oriental species ( Strumigenys hexamera , Strumigenys hirashimai , Strumigenys sinensis , Strumigenys tisiphone ). But the first species has 4-segmented antennae, while the others have 6-segmented antennae (although sometimes the 2nd and 3rd segments of the flagellum are reduced in S. lachesis ); these species also have less than 4 preapical denticles on each mandible ( S. lachesis do not have them at all) and have dense orbicular pubescence on the pro-mesonal dorsum [1] .
