Robert Joy ( born August 17, 1951 , Montreal , Quebec , Canada ) is an American-Canadian actor best known for playing Dr. Sid Hammerback in the series CSI: Crime Scene New York (2005-2013) . Also starred in the films Water World (1995), Fallen (1998), Land of the Dead (2005), Hills Have Eyes (2006), and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007).

October 27, 1979, Robert married actress Mary Joyce Shortcroff, in 1987 they had a daughter, Ruby. After some time, Robert divorced Mary and since 1995 lives with composer Henry Krieger.
Career
During his acting career, he starred in more than 130 films and series. At the end of 2005, he joined the cast of the CBS series CSI: Crime Scene New York , playing the lead medical expert Sid Hammerback. Since season 5, he has become one of the main characters [1] .
Robert was nominated three times for the Genie Awards (1981, 1987, 2007), twice for the Gemini Awards (1987, 2001).
