General Information
The men's single tournament brought together eight representatives of the Top-10 of the world ranking: out of the top ten, the third racket and two-time tournament winner in Miami were Roger Federer and tenth Marine Chilich . The first seeding number was the leader of the classification and last year's winner Novak Djokovic , and the second was Rafael Nadal . Champion of 2009 and 2013 Andy Murray acted as the third seeding number. Before all of the favorites lost the Spaniard Nadal, who dropped out in the third round, losing to compatriot Fernando Verdasco . Djokovic and Murray were able to reach the finals and played the main trophy among themselves. As a result, Novak won, who was able to defend his last year's title and win it in total for the fifth time (except for the last two victories, he won back in 2007, 2011-12). Three Russian representatives Teymuraz Gabashvili , Andrei Rublev and Mikhail Yuzhny took part in the main tournament and they all lost at the stage of the second round.
In the men's doubles as well as in the singles tournament, the favorites won. Bob Brian and Mike Brian , who were seeded under the first number, were able to defend their last year's title. For the brothers, this title was fourth in Miami (before that, in 2007-08 and 2014). In the final, they beat the second seeding numbers Vaseka Pospyshil and Jack Sok .
The women's single tournament also brought together almost all the strongest tennis players in the world: out of the top ten, only the fourth racket in the world was the Czech athlete Petra Kvitova . With the general winner of the tournament, everything was again predictable - she became the leader of women's tennis and champion of the last two draws Serena Williams , who won the tournament for the eighth time (before that, in 2002-04, 2007-08, 2013-14). By the number of victories in Miami, she became the sole champion in all categories (before that, Serena shared this record with Yana Novatna , who has seven titles in the women's doubles). The main surprise in the tournament was presented by Williams rival to the final, Carla Suarez Navarro , who was seeded at number 12. For the Spanish tennis player, this decisive match was the debut in her career at Premier Mandatory series tournaments. Eight Russians took part in the main draw of the tournament. Three of them: Daria Gavrilova , Svetlana Kuznetsova and Ekaterina Makarova managed to get into the fourth round, where each of them lost their match.
As in all competitions, the women's doubles went to one of the winners of last year, Martina Hingis . The only difference from the champions of all categories of the 2014 season was the Swiss partner in this victory - Sanya Mirza . Last year, Hingis performed in conjunction with Sabina Lisicki , who did not perform in this draw. Martina wins the local tournament for the fourth time in pairs and the sixth in total (two wins alone), and Sanya was able to win for the first time. In the final, Mirza and Hingis defeated the Russian duo Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova, who played in the decisive match for the second year in a row.
