The list of the most visited art museums in the world lists 63 museums and galleries that are most popular among visitors, whose expositions mainly consist of works of art . Art is understood as sculpture , painting , graphic art , photography and decorative and applied art . The list does not include tourist attractions that are not pure art museums (for example, the Forbidden City in Beijing ). Also, the list does not include museums whose expositions include works of art, but which primarily are specialized museums dedicated to a specific topic (for example, the Museum of Natural History in London ), as well as open museum-parks (for example, the Museum in Moscow ).
