Georgy Aleksandrovich Rubchinsky [1] (born June 29, 1984 , Moscow , RSFSR , USSR ), better known as Gosha Rubchinsky, is a Russian street designer who was included in the list of 500 most influential people in the fashion world in 2016 according to Business of Fashion [ 2] , photographer and founder of the brand of the same name. One of the most famous designers of the "new Russian wave." Known for collaborating with a variety of well-known fashion brands, from Adidas , Reebok and Levis to the conservative Burberry .

Biography

Gosha Rubchinsky was born in Moscow on June 29, 1984. He graduated from art school and college of technology and design. As he himself noted in a few interviews, Gosha considers himself "a typical child of perestroika ." He absorbed the entire mass culture of Russia in the 1990s - from youth magazines to the videos of Fyodor Bondarchuk . After graduating from art school, he suddenly goes to study hairdressing and makeup, although initially he was only interested in the style and technology of clothing production. After college, Rubchinsky gets a job as a stylist in the fashion salon of the global network Toni & Guy . In parallel, Rubchinsky begins to collaborate with filmmakers, working as a stylist and make-up artist on the set. His most famous works were in the films “ Depicting a Victim ” by Kirill Serebrennikov [3] . After working on the film " Indigo ", where he acted as a costume designer, Rubchinsky finally comes to the point that he wants to develop as a clothing designer, creating his own images [4] .


In autumn 2008, the debut men's collection “We Grow and Develop” was released.

Spring / Summer 2010 - The Dawn is Coming Soon collection.

In February 2016, the Rab collection was presented at London Fashion Week.

In June 2016 in Florence, Rubchinsky participated in the Pitti Uomo 90 exhibition [5] .

In September 2016, Gosha Rubchinsky released personalized perfume [6] and a new brand of clothes for skaters “Dawn” together with Tolya Titaev [7] .

In 2016, together with Renata Litvinova, the film “The Day of My Death” was shot [8] .

Projects

The end of January 2019 - the lookbook of the new collection of the brand "Dawn " appeared on the network, which Gosha Rubchinsky makes together with skateboarder Tolya Titaev. It includes T-shirts with hand-drawn symbols, checkered oversized shirts, “boiled” high-rise jeans and sweatshirts from the Dawn collaboration with the American sports brand Russell Athletic. [9]

In February 2019, he announced a new project GR-Uniforma. It included a book and a video about Georgia, on which the designer worked since June 2018, the music that he recorded at the home studio in Podrezkovo and at Dean Street Studios in London, as well as the “Group” clothing collection, which went on sale in Dover Street Market March 16, 2019. “GR-Uniforma is about uniform, society, architecture, about people from your world,” explained Rubchinsky on the project’s Instagram. Criticism

Russian pop singer Monetochka wrote a song about things by Gosha Rubchinsky, in which she spoke negatively about his work. In particular, the lines are repeated in the refrain: “Oh, tell me, why is there such shit for such granny?”

He was accused of harassment (requests to take a photo in the bathroom and send him) to a person on the Instagram social network under the nickname Jan Silververling (16 years old), subsequently rejected all the allegations and stated that “it was a casting” and the photos were needed for this [13 ] .
