History

Kampfar began as a solo project by a musician nicknamed Dolk, who previously played in the Norwegian black metal band Mock. [1] Thomas joined him. [2] Kampfar (1996) was released on the French label Season Of Mist , and the debut album Mellom skogkledde aaser (1997) was released on the German label Malicious Records . [1] However, the friction between Dolk and the label led to the transition to Hammerheart Records , for which the band recorded a mini album, Norse (1998). [1] After the release of the next album, Fra Underverdenen (1999), a period of inactivity began, which was interrupted by the addition of Ask and Jon in 2003 and the first live performances. [2] The well-received music press Kvass (2006) was released on Napalm Records , after which the band visited the Wacken, With Full Force festivals and went on a European tour. [2] After recording the albums Heimgang (2008) and Mare (2011), guitarist Thomas, who is being replaced by Ole, leaves the band and the band goes on a world tour. [2]
