Burospin detective [1] ( lat. Glaucidium castanotum ) is a bird from the owl family. Endemic of Sri Lanka [2] .

Distribution
South Asia It lives in the humid tropical forests of Sri Lanka at heights of up to 6500 m [3] .
Description
A small brown-brown owl with mottled marks in the plumage (length about 19 cm). Females and males are similar (no sexual dimorphism). Daytime species, feeds mainly on insects such as beetles, but also catches mice, small lizards and small birds mainly during the period of feeding offspring. Nest in tree hollows, lay 2 eggs in spring. Sometimes considered a subspecies in the composition of the taxon, the jungle passerine owl [3] .
