Born May 25, 1912 in the village of Panyutino, Lozovsky Uyezd in the Kharkov province. Hereditary railway worker, son of a train driver (Alexander Efimovich Fufryansky - in 1936-1937 the head of the Omsk Railway, shot in 1941).

Since 1931, he was an assistant driver of the Tuapse locomotive depot, then an engineer of the Khabarovsk branch of the Ussuri railway.

He graduated from the Rostov Institute of Railway Engineers (RIIZhT). After that, he worked in Rostov-on-Don in the branch of the Institute for Reconstruction of Traction, dealt with the problem of gasification, which is relevant due to the acute shortage of liquid fuel.

In 1937 (April 26) he was arrested and was under investigation for more than two years. 1939, September 29 - the prosecutor's office of the railway. Voroshilov case dismissed due to lack of corpus delicti. Released on October 19.

At the beginning of 1941, after defending his dissertation, he was transferred to Moscow to the Central Research Institute of Traction and Energy, which later became part of the All-Russian Research Institute of Railway Transport: design engineer, head. laboratory, head Department of Energy, head of the diesel department.

From 1965 to 1977, Deputy Director of VNIIZhT.

In the post-war years, he supervised (together with A.A. Poyda) the work on creating gas-generating diesel locomotives. According to the VNIIZhT project in Ulan-Ude, 15 gas-generating diesel locomotives TE1G were built at the locomotive repair plant. The diesel engines of these diesel locomotives were converted for operation on the gas-diesel cycle. Generating gas was produced from anthracite in a gas generator located in the tender section. The average annual replacement of diesel fuel with gas on these diesel locomotives was 65–67%, and on individual vehicles up to 78%.

In the early 1960s in connection with the discovery of large oil fields, the use of coal gas in diesel locomotives has lost its relevance.

Doctor of Technical Sciences (1955), Professor (1956).
