Yuexi County ( Chinese: 岳西 县 , Pinyin : Yuèxī xiàn ) is a county of Anqing Urban District of Anhui Province ( PRC ). The name of the county means "west of the mountain peak" and is explained by the fact that it is located west of Qianshan Mountain.

History
In 1936, in order to improve administration in areas with high activity of the Chinese Communist troops, the Kuomintang government decided to form a new county at the junction of the four districts - this is how Yuesi County was created.
In 1949, Anqing Special District (安庆 专区) was created and the county became part of it. In 1970, Anqing Special District was renamed to Anqing County (安庆 地区). In 1988, Anqing County was transformed into an urban district.
