Fudokan (不 動 館) is a traditional karate style created in 1980 by Yugoslav martial artist Ilya Yorga (10th dan ).
Style History
Ilya Yorga created Fudokan because of dissatisfaction with the conditional nature of contactless fights. Yorga emphasizes that Fudokan is a traditional karate in which kihon , kata and kumite play an equally important role. In fights, victory is valued above all with one decisive blow (in accordance with the old principle of ikken satsatsu - with one blow ”). Sensei Ilya Yorga in the 80s systematized all the knowledge accumulated over the past two decades in the field of this martial art, deeply analyzing the technical elements and substantiating them from the standpoint of physics and anatomy. Complementing Japanese teachings, the basis of which is solely practice, Yorga expanded the concept of karate by introducing into the course knowledge in medicine, physiology, and sports technology. The result was Fudokan - a philosophical system that gives a clear understanding of why and how to practice karate.
