History
On May 14, 1914, the Russian government decided to build a plant for the purification of platinum from the Urals deposits in Yekaterinburg. The construction of the enterprise was carried out at the expense of JSC Nikolay-Pavdinsky mountain district . Construction was led by mining engineer and metallurgist N. N. Baraboshkin , who later became the manager of the plant he built. On October 23, 1916, the plant launched facilities for processing platinum metals.
After the socialist revolution, the enterprise was nationalized. In 1922, the enterprise began production of pure palladium , in 1923 - iridium , in 1925 - rhodium , in 1927 - osmium , in 1928 - especially pure platinum (Extra), and in 1930 ruthenium was added to the above metals.
In 1941, the plant’s capacities, reinforced by the Platinapribor plant evacuated from Moscow, were reoriented to defense needs. In 1943, part of the technology was transferred to Krasnoyarsk at the completed Krasnoyarsk non-ferrous metal plant . In the same year, the 1st All-Union meeting on the analysis of precious metals was held (now the meeting is called the "International Chernyaev Conference on Chemistry, Analysis and Technology of Platinum Metals").
In 1946, the company created the first state standard for products from platinum metals - a catalyst network based on platinum alloys. In the mid-fifties, the company has its own research laboratory. In 1959, the plant was recognized as the base enterprise in the non-ferrous metallurgy industry.
In 1971, the factory mastered the production of consumer goods . In 1975, in the laboratory of the enterprise, specialists analyzed the surface layer of loose lunar soil . Since 1978, a product quality management system has been operating at the EZ OTsM. In 1990, jewelry production began at the enterprise.
In 1993, during the privatization of enterprises in Russia, the enterprise was reorganized into a joint-stock company. In 2004, a controlling stake was purchased by a group of private investors. Since 2009, the company is a member of the London Association of Platinum Group Metal Market Participants.
