Biography
Julius Richard Petri was born on May 31, 1852 in the city of Barmen (now part of Wuppertal ). From 1871 to 1875 he studied at the Royal Military Medical Academy. After training, he served as a doctor in the Berlin Charite Clinic.
In 1876, Petri graduated from the doctoral studies and continued to serve as a military doctor, eventually becoming a major in medical service.
In 1896, Julius Petri was a member of the royal Ministry of Health and the head of one of the bacteriological laboratories, with the rank of regurngsrat (senior state adviser).
Julius Petri is the author of at least eight scientific papers published between 1876 and 1897 .
