Nurlygain Tukenovich Tukenov ( 1912 - 1973 , Alma-Ata , Kazakhstan) - geologist, head of the South Kazakhstan geological department of the Ministry of Geology of the Kazakh SSR, Dzhambul region, Kazakh SSR. Hero of Socialist Labor (1966). He played a significant role in the discovery of deposits that became the industrial base of non-ferrous metallurgy of the Kazakh SSR. Honored Geologist of the Kazakh SSR (1966).

Biography
After graduating from school, he studied from 1930 on the courses of draftsmen at Kazzhelstroi. From 1931 to 1934 he studied at the railway construction college. In 1941 he graduated from the geological survey department of the Kazakh Mining and Metallurgical Institute. In 1941 he was drafted into the Red Army. He graduated from the Alma-Ata military infantry school. He participated in the Great Patriotic War. Having demobilized in 1946, he returned to Kazakhstan, where he began working as a geologist of the Zyryanovsk geological party of the Altaitsvetmetmerazvedka trust.
In 1946 he was appointed head of the Zyryanovsk geological party, which was engaged in geological exploration in the mountains of the Dzungarian Alatau . Thanks to his activities, deposits of polymetals were discovered, which became the development of the Achisai Polymetallic Combine .
Since 1948 - Head of the Geological Exploration Party in the Dzhungar region. He led the exploration of the Tekeli and Kerimbek mineral deposits, on the basis of which the Tekeli lead-zinc plant was established (today it is part of Kazzinc ).
In 1955, he was appointed head of the Mirgalimsay geological exploration party, after consolidation of which he became head of the Karatau geological exploration expedition of the South Kazakhstan geological department of the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources Protection of the Kazakh SSR.
Since 1960 - First Deputy Chairman and since 1962 - Head of the South Kazakhstan Geological Department. Supervised geological exploration of mineral deposits in the regions of South Kazakhstan and the development of lead-zinc deposits, which became an industrial area of development of the Balkhash Mining and Metallurgical Combine . In 1966 he was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor for his high labor achievements.
