Biography

 
Nasimoto and his family in 1918.

Born March 9, 1874 in the family of Prince Kuni-no-mia Asahiko and the maid of honor of Mitsue Harada.

December 2, 1885 became the 3rd head of the Nasimoto-no-mia branch .

In 1899 he became the second lieutenant of the 39th Infantry Regiment. In 1904 he became captain , in 1906 - major , in 1908 - lieutenant colonel , in 1910 - colonel .

In August 1917 he was promoted to lieutenant general and was appointed commander of the 16th division of the Japanese imperial army. Since 1919 - Member of the General Staff. August 8, 1932 became the marshal of the Japanese army. In the year 1944 resigned.

December 2, 1945 was arrested by order of General MacArthur . April 13, 1946 - released. October 14, 1947 was deprived of titles and ceased to be a member of the imperial family.

January 2, 1951 died of a heart attack.

Family

On November 28, 1900, he married Itsuko (1882–1976), the 2nd daughter of the Marquis ( cant ) Nabeshima Naohiro , former ambassador to Italy and (earlier) former last daimyo of the Saga principality . Her sister in 1928 became the mother-in-law of Prince Chichibu-no-mia .

They had 2 daughters:

  • Masako ( Jap. 方子 , 1901-1989) ; in 1920, she married en: Crown Prince Euimin , a half-brother and heir to the last Korean monarch, Sunjon ;
  • Noriko ( Jap. 子 子 , 1907-1992) ; In 1926 she married Count Hirohasi Tadamitsu.

On April 28, 1966, the former Princess Itsuko adopted Norihiko ( Jap. 19 彦 , 1922–2007) , who inherited the last name Nasimoto. He was the youngest son of the former prince Kuni-no-miya Taki (the half-brother of Morisama), but in 1943 he refused the title of a member of the imperial family and became known as Count Tatsuta Norihiko . He has three children who bear the name Tatsuta.
