Biography
Artur Danilovich Tenno was born on July 21, 1894 in the Kastre-Võnnu parish of Yurievsky district (now Estonian district of Tartumaa ) of the Livonia province . He had brothers Paul (also a military man, an artilleryman) [1] and Johann, as well as sisters Johanna and Martha [2] [3] .
He studied at the University of Tartu , was a student society " Sakala ". After the outbreak of the First World War, he was transferred to the Pavlovsk Military School , which he graduated in 1917 as an artilleryman [4] .
After the establishment of independence, Estonia participated in the Liberation War , was awarded the 1st Class Freedom Cross of the 3rd class. In the years of independence of Estonia, Tenno continued his service in the Estonian army, rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel and commanded the 5th artillery group. After Estonia joined the USSR , it retained its rank in the Red Army and was appointed commander of the 626th howitzer artillery regiment of the 182th rifle division based in Tallinn .
June 28, 1941 , after the start of the Great Patriotic War , Tenno was removed from his post as commander and arrested on charges of anti-Soviet and pro-Hitler campaign ( paragraph 10, article 58 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR ) [5] . The special troika of the NKVD was sentenced on May 15, 1943 to 10 years in prison. He served his sentence in the Krasnoyarsk Territory [6] [7] . Released after Stalin's death, he returned to Estonia .
He died on April 11, 1963 in the town of Tori (Pärnu District, now the county of Pärnumaa ).
