Biography
Born in 1922 in the city of Novgorod-Seversky now Chernihiv region . Ukrainian . Father - Korotchenko Demyan Sergeevich - Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR . Mother - Korotchenko Polina Afanasyevna.
In 1941, he voluntarily joined the ranks of the Red Army , graduated from the military aviation school of pilots. On the fronts of World War II from July 29, 1943. As part of the 429th Fighter Aviation Regiment, he participated in the defense of Moscow . Member of the CPSU (b) since 1943. From May 1944, the guard lieutenant A.D. Korotchenko was the senior pilot of the 146th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment (9th Fighter Aviation Corps of the Air Force of the South-Western Air Defense District).
He graduated from the Air Force Academy and the Military Academy of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces .

He was awarded a number of state awards of the USSR , including the Order of the Patriotic War , 2nd degree (August 13, 1945).
