Curriculum

Born May 17, 1929 in the city of Novograd-Volynsky ( Zhytomyr region ). In 1966 he graduated from the directing department of the Moscow State Institute of Culture .

He worked as director of the Novograd-Volyn House of Culture, director and artistic director of the Zhytomyr Music and Drama Theater, headed the Kiev Operetta Theater , was deputy director of the Ivan Franko Theater Kiev .

Since 1977 - the main director of festivals and cultural programs of the Ukrkoncert (in 1976-1982 - the main director of the Song Theater).

Since 1992 - General Director and Artistic Director of the All-Ukrainian State Center for Festivals and Concert Programs.

He died on May 31, 2002 . He was buried in the Baykovsky cemetery (plot No. 52a).

Creativity

Among the productions are the festival concerts “Crimean Dawns”, “Kiev Spring”, “Golden Autumn”.

For fifty years of creative activity, Boris Georgievich staged nearly a thousand concerts. Among the most ambitious are the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Cossacks on Khortitsa (then the Zaporizhzhya Sich was specially built for this), the anniversary Shevchenko celebrations at the stadium in Cherkasy .

Criticism

The name of Boris Sharvarko, who was the director of all the main official concerts and mass events in Ukraine, is associated with the phenomenon of pseudo-folk Ukrainian culture of the late XX - early XXI century , known as "Sharovarschina". [1] [2] Political scientist Nikolai Tomenko claims [3] that it was Boris Sharvarko who formed the image of Little Russian culture in Ukraine and beyond.

Memory

On May 17, 2009 in Kiev, a memorial plaque was opened to the artist on the house where he lived from 1985 until his death, at 37/2 Gogolevskaya Street .

On July 30, 2011, at the artist’s homeland, in the city of Novograd-Volynsky , by decision of the local authorities [6] , part of Chernyshevsky Street was renamed to Boris Sharvarko Boulevard and a memorial sign was opened. [7]

May 17, 2016 in Kiev on the facade of the National Palace of Arts "Ukraine" , where the director worked from 1977 to 2002 , a memorial plaque was installed. [8] [9]
