Biography
The activities of the pianist and composer took place in Odessa in the middle of the XIX century.
Died in the village. Buda-Gorobievskaya (now Kanevsky district of Cherkasy region of Ukraine ).
He was buried at the First Christian Cemetery of Odessa.
Creativity
He wrote vocal and piano music, closely associated with the intonations of folk song and urban romance .
From his creative heritage, the Bulgarian march , waltz , mazurka , polka , transcription of the Ukrainian folk song “For Niman Idu”, romances to the words of Russian and Ukrainian poets, using Ukrainian musical folklore, two polonaises “To the death of T. Shevchenko” (1861) are known and The Duma of Ukraine, which became the first examples of this genre in Ukrainian piano music.
The polonaise “To the Death of T. Shevchenko”, written in a traditional form consisting of three parts, where the extreme parts are based on Ukrainian folk songs and the contrasting middle part resembles a city urban romance, was most popular.
