Division Formation History and Combat Path
September 6, 1942 in the village of Tinaki, on the basis of the 1st and 2nd Astrakhan combined cadet regiments, the 248th Infantry Division (3rd formation) was formed [1]
September 10, 1942 on the basis of cadet regiments of the Astrakhan military school was formed 248th division. [2]
The 1st combined cadet regiment was staffed by the cadets of the 1st Astrakhan infantry school (the head of the school is Colonel I. I. Shapkin), the 2nd combined cadet regiment was staffed by the cadets of the 2nd Astrakhan (former Leningrad) infantry school (the head of the school - Colonel M.S. Yurgelas) and Astrakhan Aviation School of Mechanics. [one]
The 1st combined cadet regiment was renamed the 899th rifle regiment, and the 2nd combined cadet regiment was renamed the 902th rifle regiment. Based on the reserve regiment stationed in Astrakhan, the 905th Infantry Regiment was formed [2] .
The division included the 899th, 902nd and 905th rifle regiments, 771th artillery regiment, 199th separate machine gun battalion, 412th separate combat engineer battalion, separate training battalion, 302nd fighter anti-tank division, The 80th separate anti-aircraft artillery battery and other units [3] .
